On Hosting Weddings

I was checking my old files and I saw this video that one of my clients did for me. An act like this makes me feel appreciated and drives me to do my job better.

I started hosting events and weddings in 2009 but going on stage always feels like the first time. The nervousness and excitement seem crazy sometimes but for me, feeling emotions like this is a good thing. For me, it keeps me grounded to make no room for complacency.

I remember my first weddings… I wasn’t just nervous or excited, I was broken. And I used to step out of the venue to fix myself because I can’t help but get teary-eyed. Those were the days that I was having problems with my marriage and seeing a couple getting married just reminds me of the not-so-pleasant things. Basically, it was hard for me to see people in love. Which is, I think, ironic for someone who chose to get into a wedding job like this. Now, I just laugh as I recall those days. Yet I applaud myself for being resilient and professional. It was, indeed, a tough challenge to wear a mask and feign a smile. Nowadays, every time I host, it is all about the passion and love for the job, and just being genuinely happy for the two individuals who braved to go on a lifelong journey. I am into it 100%, and I am enjoying my hosting wholeheartedly.

The couple in the video has their little bundle of happiness now. As I look at them and see how happy and in-love they have been through the years, I can’t help but smile and be thankful that I was a part of that day when they celebrated their wedding. Moreover, I feel blessed to have witnessed a love that was vowed to last for a lifetime.
